We bounced back today against the Mill Valley Indians

It was fun to play against Mike Terry and his club today.  We had a good battle the first game getting down early but we were able to find a way to battle back, “dirtbag” style.  Game two was close for most of the game until we had a late explosion the last couple of innings offensively.  We played reasonably decent catch today and threw a good deal of strikes.  Bunting game needs to get better but we were able to manufacturer runs throughout the day.  Tomorrow we have a double header against the Vacaville Rattlers.

Loss today vs. Knights A

We had a tough game today against a disciplined opponent and they capitalized on the mistakes we made.  Jace Puckett had a rough outing and we didn’t play catch very well.  The Knights A applied pressure on us most of the day and created some separation late.  Hopefully we come out and excute better against the Mill Valley Indians.

Split today with EDH Vipers

Today we made a day trip to Sacramento and played a tough EDH Vipers club.  Tyler Eaton pitched well in the first game and Logan Garling threw fairly well in relief.  We didn’t have a very good approach at the plate, which made things difficult.  We lost the game 4-1.

Game two we got a quality start out of Ben Calingaert and used a bunch of different relievers.  Jake Bray and Dennis Morelli had key hits for us in the game and Jake Bray came in to get us the last out in the seventh, helping preserve an 8-6 victory.  Tomorrow we play the Reno Knights A team at Reno High.

Tough loss today against Thundersox in semi-finals of 4th of July Tournament

We have been playing the Castro Valley Thundersox for many years and this is one of the best teams we have ever played against.  They started a guy on the mound from Long Beach State and he threw extremely well all day.  Matt Thomas threw well for us for about 4 innings, and our bullpen had a tough time with their experienced hitters.  We didn’t do a very good job taking care of the baseball and eventually lost 6-1.  We have a day off before traveling to Sacramento to play the EDH Vipers at Sacramento State’s baseball complex.

Outstanding game today vs. Head First Gamers

Today we had a good battle with a quality program, the Head First Gamers.   Mario Iglesias’s guys played hard all day long and took a 3–1 lead into the sixth inning.  Jake Bray hit a huge 3 run home run and we then scored seven more runs that inning to go ahead 11-3.  Dennis Morelli had a quality start on the mound and Dallas Melum and Colby Duncan threw an inning each in relief.  Tomorrow we have a semi-final game against the Castro Valley Thundersox.

Good showing today in our 4th of July Tournament

This morning we played a competitive Team Avenue Aces team and were able to get out to an early lead.  Colton Oney had another solid performance on the mound and we were able to manufacture some runs.  Jake Bray led our “dirtbag” group of hitters and Dennis Morelli also swung the bat well.  Other than the 4th inning we took care of the baseball pretty well.

Game two we came out very motivated and were able to get separation vs. a good APS 19U team.  Jace Puckett pitched a great game and we played solid defense behind him.  Brett Valley and Colton Oney swung the bat well.  Tomorrow we play the Head First Gamers which will be a deciding game to get us into Sunday’s championship round.

Split today in first day of 4th of July Tournament

We played hard most of the day, although we didn’t play all that well.  In the AM we were able to create separation in the second half of the game with a solid pitching performance from Kevin Romero against the Sacramento Cyclones.  Our defense was pretty good and we had some timely hitting and good bunting execution.

Game two we played a very talented Alameda Merchants club who played a very good game.  They pitched well and played excellent defense.  Our rally fell short in the 7th inning and we lost 4-1.  Tomorrow we have a tough double header vs. Team Avenue Aces and APS #2.

Game today with Tahoe Bluejacks completes regular season of Joe D league games

Today we were able to play well enough to win our 6th and final league game of the year.  Tahoe has a good young team and they gave us a good game most of the way.  Dusty Granata and Jeremy Rosenthal had good games at the plate.  It was good to get Adam Whitt back on the mound today.  Tomorrow we start our 4th of July Tournament with a double header at Sparks High.
